I really wanted to go to Hampton Court Flower Show this weekend - but it is not to be. As a consolation we went to our local Garden Centre this afternoon and I bought a new rose.
Isn't it beautiful? It's name is Wollerton Old Hall and it has the most unusual perfume which the label tells me is myrrh - it smells like aniseed to me, but then until today I had never smelt myrrh.
It was raining when we came home so I snipped off this little branch and have them in the sitting room in water - I was afraid the rain would ruin the petals as it has done to my beautiful white rose.

Oh what a shame you didn't get to Hampton Court but this beautiful rose would have to be some consolation - what a gorgeous soft butter tipped with delicate pink. Must look out for this one.
ReplyDeleteI know I think it's lovely and I can smell it in the room this evening - not sure how much I like the perfume really, it's not a normaly rose scent! Also bought a new jasmine to plant up this end of the garden near the back door (can't smell the one at the bottom of the garden even though it's huge) and a new bird box (the last one's roof fell off - I suspect the cats had a hand (paw) in this) to replace the old one
