ANZAC DAY

Today is Anzac Day and for a good description of today I recommend the post by Magnolia Verandah  (then click HOME) which also contains a recipe for Anzac Biscuits which I plan to make later today.

Anzac Day commemorates the landing at Gallipoli in Turkey in 1915 and the devestation.

Mustafa Kemal Attaturk is considered the father of modern Turkey and this is his epitaph to the men who died at Gallipoli.

Those heroes that shed their blood and lost their lives ....
You are now lying in the soil of a friendly country,
Therefore rest in peace,
There is no difference between the Johnnies and the Mehmets to us
Where they lay side by side
Here in this country of ours ....
You, the mothers,
Who sent your sons from far away countries,
Wipe away your tears;
Your sons are now lying in our bosom
And are in Peace.
After having lost their lives on this land
They have become our sons as well.

ATTATURK 1934

Today is also the anniversary of the death of my maternal grandmother Isabella who died in 2003 aged 96 - she was a brave and fearless woman - RIP.

Feeding The Deer in Weald Park

Always a happy time - popped into Weald Park to feed the deer - one hour and ten packets of deer food later - we left.

The beady-eyed geese couldn't reach us quickly enough for some food!

I love the school holidays - roll on summer!

London

We spent the day in London last Tuesday - lunch at the V & A followed by a wander around and then a quick trip across the road for a whiz around the Natural History Museum.

Then of course girls being girls - it was off to for a spot of shopping in Knightsbridge followed by a quick trip to Kings Road - where we managed to get caught in the rain.

I just had to have one of these!

Actually not as nice as you would expect (or certainly not as I would expect)

Younger daughter dressing up in the V & A shop

No one we know - too busy taking photographs ....... !

Anyone for lunch?

It was a lovely - but exhausting day - I'd love a rug from this company (don't you love that van\)

Did you manage to get out and about over the Easter holidays?
